What Is Myotherapy
Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction causing pain and effecting human movement. The aims of Myotherapy treatment are to decrease pain, improve flexibility/movement and increase strength.
Treatment involves a combination of deep tissue/remedial massage, trigger point therapy, soft tissue manipulation techniques, myofascial dry needling, cupping, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), thermo therapy (heat and cold), stretching and corrective exercise.
A myotherapist takes into account all aspects of health and well being to treat patients from a very holistic perspective, including not only physical, but psychological and occupational aspects of the individual's lifestyle.
Myotherapy plays an important role for many patients as an individual modality of treatment, however is often effectively used in conjunction with treatment provided by both medical and other allied-health practitioners such as Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Chiropractic and Osteopathy.
